I gained a Master’s Degree in Contemporary Fine Art at the University of Cumbria in 2010 where I focused on drawing and painting.

Since then I have become increasingly interested in printmaking techniques and in 2015 I invested in a studio sized etching press. I am an active member and trustee of the recently formed Cumbria Printmakers and have exhibited with them at Dalemain for C.Art and more recently at Artemis Gallery, Cockermouth.

Most of my prints are produced from simple linocuts or woodcuts. I often print key blocks in black or dark grey over separate coloured blocks. I am also experimenting with reduction prints as in ‘Fell Road’ and the ‘Nightingale’ series. In this technique the same block is used and each colour is printed before the block is cut away further.

Most of my work is derived from sketches of the local landscape. These focus on the farms, isolated houses, stone bridges and narrow twisting roads of west Cumbria . Recently I have produced a series of prints based on sketches of Whitehaven, a local Georgian town and port. I exhibit regularly at local art events and some of my work is on display at Artemis, a Cockermouth Gallery where I had a solo exhibition in 2015 and 2017. In 2016 my work was included in ‘The Great Print Exhibition’ at Rheged.
